Overview

This position is located at Randolph Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.

Randolph AFB is the headquarters of the Air Education and Training Command and the Air Force Personnel Center. It merges with Lackland Air Force Base and Fort Sam Houston to form Joint Base San Antonio.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a recognized technical authority in the delivery of psychiatric medical care to a wide array of patient presentations, symptoms, conditions, and complexities.
• Provide treatment services in inpatient, consultation liaison, partial hospitalization, day programs, emergency psychiatric, telepsychiatric, outpatient, and routine intensive outpatient services.
• Develop treatment and rehabilitation plans and provide therapeutic treatment services including medication management and various individual and group therapy modalities.
• Conduct thorough biopsychosocial evaluations of presenting patients, including integration of laboratory, radiological, EKG, psychological testing, and clinical findings.
• Prescribe appropriate pharmacological and psychotherapeutic treatment.
• Provide appropriate referrals to other medical and mental health care providers within and outside the medical treatment facility (MTF).
• Participate in hospital‑approved mental health training programs.
• Participate in committees and meetings responsible for the evaluation of care provided to patients at the MTF.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Basic Requirements for Physician (Psychiatry):

• Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine, or equivalent from a school accredited by the accredited bodies in the United States or Canada. An equivalent foreign medical degree must provide educational equivalency evidenced by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates, a fifth pathway certificate, or successful completion of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a physician from a U.S. state, D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territory.
• At least one year of supervised experience providing direct service in a clinical setting following completion of a medical degree (e.g., one-year internship or first year of residency).

In addition to meeting the basic requirements, applicants must also have successfully completed at least four (4) years of accredited residency training in Psychiatry.

Upon selection, salary determination will be conducted after the initial job offer is accepted, based on the Activity Compensation Panel adding base pay and market pay. Salary for physician positions is based on a tier scale determined by specialty, grade, and location.
