Job Description

Johnson & Johnson is currently seeking a Physician Program Director to join our Abiomed team located in the Mountain region of the United States.

This is a field-based role available in the Mountain region, USA. While specific cities are listed in the Locations section for reference, please note that they are examples only and do not limit your application.

The Physician Program Director focuses on establishing formal Impella programs through sustainable relationships with account stakeholders and key opinion leaders (KOLs) in the field of hemodynamic support. The role involves acting as a liaison to connect hospitals to internal resources, partnering with hospitals to identify growth areas, and supporting the commercial organization with peer-to-peer programs.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities
  • Develop sustainable relationships with designated accounts, health systems, KOLs, and stakeholders to impact and maximize Abiomed formalization of Impella programs and optimize outcomes.
  • Manage Impella programs based on customer needs that are mutually beneficial.
  • Understand hospital market dynamics, identify operational and patient care gaps, and deploy tools to reach more patients.
  • Present complex health economic information credibly and engagingly.
  • Advocate for heart recovery programs with hospital administration and engage with hospital leaders.
  • Facilitate customer advisory boards for feedback on products, messaging, and competition.
  • Identify and develop KOLs through visits, regional education, and local programs.
  • Serve as a liaison between KOLs, healthcare leaders, and Abiomed teams.
  • Lead customer meetings at major medical conferences like ACC, TCT, and SCAI.
  • Maintain routine communication with sales and leadership teams.
Qualifications - External
  • BA/BS required. MBS or MBA preferred.
  • At least 4 years of successful sales experience within Abiomed or over 7 years in related industry sales with proven success.
  • Prior KOL management experience or existing relationships in the geographic area.
  • Must be able to travel extensively (up to 70%).
  • Strong understanding of US healthcare policy, hospital, and physician reimbursement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and execute tactically.
  • Responsiveness, urgency, and ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Mastery of cardiac anatomy and clinical data.

The anticipated base pay range is $125,000, with a competitive incentive program. A company car is provided through the FLEET program.
