Job description

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific individual eligibility requirements in accordance with VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the application.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA-employed physicians who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to meet the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may be appointed only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, as per VA policy.
• Degree of doctor of medicine or equivalent from an approved medical school.
• Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
• Residency Training: Completion of an accredited residency program approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification. Residency programs include those approved by ACGME, AOA, or equivalent non-US programs with verified practice experience.
• Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA residencies who meet basic requirements may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and work on an intermittent or fee basis. PRPs are not independent practitioners and will not have privileges.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Physical requirements include light lifting and carrying, pulling, pushing, reaching, use of fingers, walking, standing, bending, rapid coordination, near vision, and hearing, with aids permitted where applicable.

Duties

• Provide comprehensive primary care services to Veterans at the Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center in Salina, KS.
• Coordinate with other providers and service lines, and perform consultations as needed.
• Participate in clinical care, education, research, hospital committees, and training programs.
• Work Schedule: 8:00 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
