Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Basic Requirements:

1. U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens may be appointed if qualified citizens cannot be recruited.
2. Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved medical school.
3. Current unrestricted medical or surgical license in the U.S.
4. Completed residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification.
5. Residents enrolled in accredited training programs may be appointed as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) on a limited basis.
6. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
7. Physical requirements include participation in a pre-employment exam.

Duties

• Operate within a Whole Health System of care, empowering Veterans to manage their health and well-being.
• Deliver primary care to patients enrolled in the Iowa City VA Healthcare System, managing scheduled and unscheduled outpatient visits.
• Manage patient panels, with panel size determined by VHA PCMM software and local factors.
• Potentially oversee specific patient subgroups or participate in special projects and committees.
• Provide clinical oversight as a supervising or collaborating physician for mid-level providers.
• Ensure timely documentation, maintain high standards of care, and work within privileges.

• Work schedule is typically Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, with flexibility as agreed upon.
