Job summary

UNC Health Nash seeks an interim Chief Medical Officer to act as the senior physician executive, collaborating with the CEO, CNO and board to set clinical strategy, drive quality and safety outcomes, and ensure regulatory compliance across the hospital.

The CMO will oversee medical staff credentialing, service-line development, risk management, care management, and contracted staff services, partnering with the CFO on budgets and leading continuous improvement across patient care functions.

Qualifications

• MD or DO from an accredited School of Medicine with current board certification.
• Minimum of twelve years of clinical experience, including at least ten years in a leadership capacity.
• Experience in medical staff governance, credentialing, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee quality, safety, and performance management across all medical staff and clinical departments
• Develop and implement a comprehensive clinical strategic plan aligned with the hospital's organisational goals
• Ensure adherence to healthcare regulations and standards including HIPAA, Medicare/Medicaid, and JCAHO requirements

UNC Health Nash, an affiliated member of the UNC Health system serving Nash, Edgecombe, Halifax, and Wilson Counties in North Carolina, is seeking an interim Chief Medical Officer. The CMO serves as the senior physician executive, working closely with the CEO, CNO, and board leadership to set clinical strategy, drive quality and safety outcomes, and ensure regulatory compliance across the hospital.

The role carries broad oversight including medical staff credentialing, clinical service-line development, risk management, care management, and contracted medical staff services. The CMO also contributes to clinical budget management in partnership with the CFO and leads continuous improvement initiatives across all patient care functions.
