Responsibilities

ROLE OVERVIEW and PURPOSE:

The Pediatrics Physician works to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare (NHC) by providing excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will provide comprehensive medical services to pediatric patients. In addition, this role will educate and promote healthy choices to parents and their children.

Schedule
  • 2 days a week, 8 AM - 5 PM (16 hour week)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Reviews patient records, including allergies, problems, medications,and immunization statuses
  • Elicits anddocumentsinformation about patient’s medical history
  • Examinessymptoms to gather more information about thepatient’sphysical condition
  • Orders and executes various tests, analyses,and diagnostic images to provide information on patient’s condition
  • Analyzes reports and findings of tests,examinations,and diagnosestounderstand the patient’s current condition
  • Administers or prescribes treatmentsto patients
  • Determinesand prescribes medications, dosages,and schedulesgiven patientconditionsand allergies
  • Discussespossible sideeffects to medicationsor immunizationswith patientsand parents
  • Prescribes and administers vaccinations to immunize patientsfrom communicable diseases
  • Promotes health byadvisingpatients and parents about diets, hygiene,and methods for prevention of disease
  • Performs surgical procedurescorrespondingto surgicalcompetencies
  • Refers patients to medical specialistsfor consultant servicesforpatients’well-being, as needed
  • Documents patient visits,including medical histories, physical exams, diagnoses,and plansof action
  • Follows up with patientsregardingprogress inhigh riskor emergency cases
  • Conductsphysical examinations topatients forinformation needed for admission to schools, consideration for jobs,or eligibility for insurance coverage
Provider and Team Support
  • Shares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination withcare teams
  • Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients,fellow employees, and otherstakeholders
  • Assessestraining needs and promotesdevelopmental activitiesfor the team
Customer Relations
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, and the public
  • Cooperates inaccomplishingdepartment goals andobjectives
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
  • Doctorate in medicineisrequired
  • Active California Medical license in good standing is required
  • Current CA DEA licensure isrequiredand is to bemaintainedas a condition of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved source isrequiredupon hire and must bemaintainedas a condition of employment.
    • AHA-approved courses include an in-person, hands-on skills check with a certified instructor using a mannequin todemonstrateCPR and emergency response techniques.
    • Online-only BLS courses without a live skills check do not meet this requirement.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (Knowledge, Skills and Abilities):
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition,typingand proofreading skills
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Knowledgeable about and experience withpediatric medicine
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent planning and organizational ability
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner

Pay Range:

$209,900 to $348,400 per year, depending on experience

The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
