Job summary

Neighborhood Healthcare is seeking a physician to provide patient-centered care in a dynamic team setting. You will treat adults and children, educate patients on healthy choices, and coordinate care with care teams.

Responsibilities include exams, orders, documenting visits, and ensuring high-quality, confidential patient interactions. The ideal candidate holds an MD or DO, a California medical license, CA DEA licensure, and AHA BLS certification, with completed residency and board eligibility

Job description

ThePhysicianwillwork to support the mission and vision of Neighborhood Healthcare (NHC) by providing excellent patient-centered care and services within a dynamic team environment. This role will provide comprehensive medical services toadults and children. In addition, this role will educate and promote healthy choicestopatients.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Direct Care
  • Administersorprescribestreatments
  • Discusses potential side effects to medications and/or immunizations withpatients
  • Promotes healthbyadvisingpatients about diet, hygiene, and methods for disease prevention
  • Refers patients to medical specialists for consultant services for their well-being, as needed
  • Follows up with patientsregardingprogress inhigh riskor emergencycases
  • Conducts physical examinations to provide information needed for admissionto schools, consideration for jobs, or eligibility for insurancecoverage
Provider and Team Support
  • Shares accountability for overall patient health outcomes by working in coordination with careteams
  • Operates to instill confidence in our care and in our facilities to patients,fellow employees, and otherstakeholders
  • Assessstraining needs and promotes developmental activities ofmedical staff
Clinical Administration
  • Reviews patient files/records, including allergies, problems, medications, and immunizationstatus
  • Elicits and records information about patient medicalhistory
  • Examines patients for symptoms or physicalinformation
  • Orders and executes various test, analyses, and diagnostic images toprovide information on patient’s condition

  • Determinesand prescribespatientmedications, dosages and schedulesdependentontheirconditionsand allergies
  • Prescribes and administers vaccinations to immunize patient from communicable diseases
  • Documents patient visits, including medical history, physical exam, diagnoses, and plan of action
  • Stays informed of organizational activitiesandpromote mission andgoals
  • Reviews and responds to all forms of communication, such as emails, postal mail, voice mails
  • Functions at highest level according to credentials andcompetency
  • Impactspatient experiencebydemonstratingcourteous and helpful behavior and a commitment to accuracy
Customer Relations
  • Maintains professional working relationships with all levels of staff, clients, and the public
  • Cooperates in accomplishing department goals andobjectives
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution required
  • California Medical license in good standing required
  • Current CA DEA licensure is required and is to be maintained as a condition of employment
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through an American Heart Association (AHA)-approved source is required upon hire and must be maintained as a condition of employment.
    • AHA-approved courses include an in-person, hands-on skills check with a certified instructor using a mannequin to demonstrate CPR and emergency response techniques.
    • Online-only BLS courses without a live skills check do not meet this requirement.
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency program appropriate to the physician's designated specialty
  • Current board certification, or eligibility for certification, by an appropriate specialty board recognized within the physician's area of practice required
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS(Knowledge,SkillsandAbilities)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including superior composition,typingand proofreading skills
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Knowledgeable about and experience withmedicineand patient direct care
  • Ability to successfully manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent planning and organizational ability
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to work with highly confidential information in a professional and ethical manner

  • Follows all safety procedures as outlined in Neighborhood Healthcare’s Illness and Injury Prevention Plan (IIPP) and report any injuries and/or unsafe conditionsimmediately
  • Maintains current knowledge of policies and procedures as they relate to safe work practices

  • Usesappropriate bodymechanics to ensure an injury free environment
  • Familiarity with location of nearest fire extinguisher and emergency exits
  • Follows all infection control procedures including blood-borne pathogen protocols
  • Maintains privacy of all patients, employee and volunteer information and access such information only on a need-to-know basis for business purposes
  • Complies withall regulationsregardingcorporate integrity and security obligations
  • Reports all behavior and/or activity that are unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful
Pay range:

$229,100-$385,000 annually, depending on experience

Compensation Disclosure:

The posted salary range reflects the designated pay grade for this position. While this range represents the broader classification of the role, actual compensation will be based on several factors, including but not limited to: the candidate’s overall knowledge, skills, and experience, market data and industry benchmarks, internal equity within the organization, Budgetary considerations and organizational needs. As a result, placement within the range is not guaranteed, and the full pay grade range may not be utilized.
