Qualifications

Job description

Summary

We are seeking a full‑time Pediatric Otolaryngology Physician to work with faculty, residents, and staff caring for a pediatric otolaryngology patient population at The Children's Hospital of San Antonio.

Job Duties

• Establish criteria and conduct patient care reviews to analyze the quality and appropriateness of care and treatment within the department or service.
• Recommend criteria for clinical privileges and evaluate each member’s privileges.
• Review and evaluate department/service adherence to medical staff policies, sound clinical practice principles, and integration into hospital operations.
• Review and evaluate patient care services provided outside the hospital via contractual agreements.
• Coordinate patient care with nursing and ancillary services.
• Call and lead department/service meetings to discuss quality and outcomes management findings.
• Take appropriate action when problems or improvement opportunities are identified.
• Act as the designated agent for peer review functions on behalf of the Medical Executive Committee.
• Submit reports on review activities, actions taken, and recommendations for improving care quality.
• Provide orientation and continuing education for all department or service personnel.

Minimum Qualifications

• MD degree or equivalent.
• Fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology.
• Board certified or eligible in otolaryngology.
• Experience working with children with chronic illness and knowledge of long‑term medications and drug interactions.
• Strong physical assessment and diagnostic skills, patient and family education, and care coordination.
• Current Basic Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications.
