Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, award amount (up to $200,000), and eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending completion of training or licensing requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are met. VA physicians previously employed who met the requirements at initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.
Basic Requirements:
- U.S. Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, in accordance with VA Policy.
- Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school.
- Current unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the U.S.
- Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification, approved by the VA Secretary.
- Residents enrolled in ACGME/AOA accredited programs are eligible for appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs), who must be fully licensed and may only be appointed on an intermittent or fee basis.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.

- Physical Requirements: Visual acuity, hearing, speech, manual dexterity, and ability to perform CPR per ACLS/BLS protocols. Ability to work long periods of walking, standing, and other physical activities. Exposure to infected patients and contaminated materials may be required.
Duties
- This is an open continuous announcement until July 14, 2025, with initial application cutoff on May 19, 2025, and subsequent cut-offs every 5 days. Applications received after will be considered as vacancies arise.
