Job summary

University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center in Charles County, MD, seeks an experienced Board-Certified General Orthopedic Surgeon to join our hospital-employed team. Qualifications

  • MD license to practice in Maryland required.
  • Board Certification in Orthopedic Surgery required.
  • DEA or similar certification required.
  • Clinical privileges at a UMMS affiliated acute care facility.
  • Demonstrates CME requirements for licensure and board certification.
  • 2+ years of Orthopedic MD experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, efficient, cost-effective, and compassionate care to assigned patients.
  • Maintain complete and timely documentation of all patient services.
  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement programs.
  • Supervise administrative responsibilities of non-physician team members.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures, including HR, billing, coding and training standards.
  • Maintain compliance with OSHA, CLIA, labor laws, and other regulatory guidelines.
  • Collaborate on budget planning and review practice expenditures.
  • Uphold UM Charles Regional goals and objectives.
  • Promote a courteous, respectful atmosphere and enhance patient satisfaction and hospital reputation.
  • Represent the practice in the community through speaking engagements and outreach.

Job description

Overview

University of Maryland Charles Regional Medical Center (UM CRMC) is seeking an experienced Board-Certified General Orthopedic Surgeon to join our team. This is a full-time, hospital-employed position focused on delivering high-quality, patient-centered orthopedic care to the Charles County community.

Responsibilities
  • General Bread-and-Butter Orthopedics
  • Call Schedule: 7 days/month
  • OR Time: Flexible based on surgeon's preferences and scheduling
  • Setting: Single clinic site; inpatient rounding exclusively at UM Charles Regional
  • Tools & Support: Hospital willing to support needed equipment (e.g., X-ray machine)
  • Growth Opportunity: Mid-level provider support to be added as volume grows
  • Rehabilitation Services: Integrated PT support both inpatient and outpatient
  • Community Leadership: Be a vital part of strengthening a key service line for a well-respected community hospital
Primary Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, efficient, cost-effective, and compassionate care to assigned patients

  • Participate in quality assurance and improvement programs
  • Supervise administrative responsibilities of non-physician team members
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies and procedures, including HR, billing, coding, and training standards
  • Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory guidelines (OSHA, CLIA, labor laws, etc.)
  • Collaborate on budget planning and review practice expenditures
  • Uphold the written goals and objectives of UM Charles Regional
  • Promote a courteous, respectful atmosphere and enhance patient satisfaction and hospital reputation
  • Represent the practice in the community through speaking engagements, volunteerism, and outreach efforts
  • Work cooperatively with hospital administration to adapt scheduling or practice style as needed to improve patient access and satisfaction
  • Engage in disease management programs and population health efforts to drive better outcomes
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Possesses and maintains current license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland required.
  • Possesses and maintains current Board Certification within practicing specialty required.
  • Possesses and maintains current DEA or similar Narcotics and Controlled Substances Certification required.
  • Possesses and maintains, if applicable, appropriate clinical privileges at a minimum of one UMMS affiliated acute care facility.
  • Demonstrates meeting minimum CME requirements for licensure and board certification.
  • Demonstrates appropriate qualifications and experience to perform the duties required of this position.
  • 2 plus years of experience as an Orthopedic MD.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

Highly effective verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills to communicate effectively with all levels hospital staff, patients, visitors, and levels of staff.
