Physician - (Optometrist/Ophthalmologist)
Description:
The Physician’s primary responsibility is to provide comprehensive vision care for patients at FHCN. The role involves working independently and collaboratively with other clinic providers. Performance is assessed through observation, consultation, and documentation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including but not limited to):
- Access & Quality
- Provide or coordinate comprehensive primary care services, including diagnostic workup and referrals.
- Practice independently within scope, collaborating with healthcare team members.
- Perform minor outpatient procedures as credentialed.
- Consult with other providers via in-person or telephone communication.
- Coordinate patient care and referrals appropriately.
- Ensure accurate, timely documentation in patient records.
- Educate patients and families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and follow-up.
- Adhere to quality standards, community care practices, and legal requirements.
- Supervise and train ancillary staff to ensure quality care.
- Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, and policy development.
- Maintain necessary credentials, including licensure, certification, and CME.
- Attend staff and committee meetings, and participate in task forces.
- Perform after-hours and weekend care when scheduled.
Advocacy
- Treat all patients with dignity and respect.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Comply with HRSA, HIPAA, and PHI regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Effective team collaboration and task facilitation skills.
- Experience in FQHC preferred.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in computer software such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Sound judgment and discretion in managing sensitive issues.
Requirements:
- Graduation from an accredited medical school with MD or DO degree; Board eligible/certified.
- Minimum five years of medical practice experience with administrative responsibilities.
- Valid, unrestricted medical license in SC.
- Current, valid DEA registration.
- Ability to maintain malpractice insurance and participate in reimbursement programs.
