Job summary

Sutter North Medical Group seeks a BE/BC General Ophthalmologist to join our dynamic team in Yuba City, CA. The role involves comprehensive eye exams, managing eye diseases, and performing cataract and laser procedures as appropriate to subspecialty.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of an accredited Ophthalmology residency program.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Ophthalmology.
• Active (or eligible for) CA state medical license.
• Fellowship training in a subspecialty preferred but not required.
• Strong clinical and surgical skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye exams to assess vision and detect eye diseases or abnormalities.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic eye conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
• Perform surgical procedures such as cataract surgery, laser treatments, and other ophthalmologic interventions (if applicable to subspecialty).
• Prescribe medications and corrective lenses as needed.
• Interpret diagnostic testing results (e.g., OCT, visual fields, fundus photography).
• Educate patients on eye care, treatment plans, and preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
• Collaborate with optometrists, primary care providers, and other specialists for coordinated patient care.
• Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology through continuing education.
