Job Description

Jefferson Einstein Hospital's employed specialty care practice group is seeking to add a new comprehensive Ophthalmologist to our Ophthalmology team! Since 1995, our Ophthalmology team has been serving 7,000-9,000 patients annually, treating a wide variety of cases and performing surgeries for patients in Northern Philadelphia. They serve not only the city of Philadelphia but also contribute to educating future Ophthalmologists. The new Ophthalmologist will be committed to serving diverse patient backgrounds and teaching. Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive examinations of the visual system to diagnose ocular disorders.
• Test patient vision.
• Perform ophthalmic surgeries including cataract, entropion/ectropion repair, ptosis repair, glaucoma, refractive, corneal, vitreoretinal, eye muscle, laser trabeculoplasty, laser iridotomy, strabismus, and oculoplastic surgeries.
• Diagnose and treat injuries, disorders, or diseases of the eye and its structures.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide optimal patient care. The team includes 2 optometrists, 1 ophthalmologist, 6 ophthalmology techs, and 4 PSRs.
• Prescribe ophthalmologic treatments such as chemotherapy, cryotherapy, and low vision therapy.
• Prescribe corrective lenses and assistive medical devices.
• Conduct clinical or laboratory-based research in ophthalmology.
• Operate equipment such as Humphrey visual field, OCT, fundus camera, IOL Master, YAG laser, SLT laser, Argon laser, corneal topography, and Goldman visual field.
• Manage a patient load of up to 28 per day, with 70% of patients being diabetic, glaucoma patients, or over 65 years old.
