Job Description

Join our team at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Palo Alto, CA as a Physician – Occupational Health Section Chief.

The Occupational Health Section Chief, Medical Service, is responsible for establishing and maintaining high standards of excellence in all areas. Responsibilities include data collection and analysis to determine employee health needs and expectations for the occupational health and employee wellness programs. The role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating activities for effectiveness, clinical management including indirect patient care, maintaining clinic productivity, overseeing quality and patient safety, and process improvements.

Additional duties include coordinating tuberculosis screening, completing OPPE and proficiency assessments, overseeing pre-employment screening processes, performing respirator medical evaluations, assessing immune status, administering vaccinations according to CDC guidelines, collaborating with Infection Control, coordinating influenza vaccination programs, and overseeing annual physicals for police personnel to ensure compliance.

Despite extensive administrative responsibilities, the incumbent maintains a clinical workload, remaining privileged and practicing in their specialty, with privileges approved by the Professional Standards Board.
