Job summary

Defense Health Agency is seeking an OB/GYN physician for the Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. The physician will evaluate female pelvic conditions, perform colposcopy, interpret imaging, and provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care.

The responsibilities include labor and delivery management, 24-hour on-call coverage, and training of students and staff.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO from an accredited U.S./Canada school, or equivalent foreign degree with U.S. certification.
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted medical license in the U.S. or equivalent.
  • At least one year of supervised post-graduate clinical experience (internship or first year of residency).
  • Completed OB/GYN residency (ACGME approved) or an equivalent four-year training.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate a wide range of female pelvic conditions, including pain, urinary incontinence, abnormal uterine bleeding, and sexual and reproductive health.
  • Perform colposcopy and office/surgical treatments of vaginal and cervical dysplasia.
  • Interpret diagnostic images and provide consultation on imaging and examination reports.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat OB/GYN patients from pediatric to geriatric, including pregnancy and post‑menopausal care.
  • Provide primary preventive care and education for women in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic.
  • Work in Labor and Delivery for triage, management of laboring patients, deliveries, and obstetric emergencies.
  • Perform on‑call duties to provide 24‑hour coverage of Labor and Delivery ward.
  • Guide, instruct, and train students and other personnel in ambulatory OB‑GYN care and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education

MD/DO from an accredited U.S./Canadian school or equivalent foreign degree with U.S. certification
Current, active, full, and unrestricted medical license in the U.S.

Overview

Position located in the Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology, Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. BAMC is the United States Army’s premier medical institution and the Department of Defense’s largest facility and only Level 1 trauma center.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluate a wide range of female pelvic conditions, including pain, urinary incontinence, abnormal uterine bleeding, and sexual and reproductive health.
  • Perform colposcopy and office/surgical treatments of vaginal and cervical dysplasia.
  • Interpret diagnostic images and provide consultation on imaging and examination reports.
  • Examine, diagnose, and treat OB/GYN patients from pediatric to geriatric, including evaluation of anatomic abnormalities, pubertal development, pregnancy, and post‑menopausal treatment.
  • Provide primary preventive care and education for women in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic.
  • Work in Labor and Delivery for triage, management of laboring patients, vaginal delivery, operative delivery, cesarean sections, and management of hypertensive disorders and post‑partum hemorrhage.
  • Perform on‑call duties to provide 24‑hour coverage of Labor and Delivery ward, handle emergencies, and answer urgent consultations from other specialties.
  • Guide, instruct, and train students and other professional personnel in ambulatory OB‑GYN care, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited U.S. or Canadian school, or an equivalent foreign degree with U.S. equivalency certification.
  • Current, active, full, and unrestricted state license or registration as a Physician.
  • At least one year of supervised experience after graduation (internship or first year of residency).

Additional Qualifications:

  • Successfully completed an accredited residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology, or equivalent training equal to at least four years.
