Job summary

Southside Medical Center in Atlanta, GA is seeking an experienced OB/GYN physician with MD degree to join our health center. The role involves examining and treating expectant mothers and assisting in diagnosis and management of gynecological diseases within our comprehensive health center.

You will report to the Chief Medical Officer and collaborate with the nursing leadership and specialists in case conferences to ensure high-quality patient care.

Qualifications

  • MD with OB/GYN specialization and residency.
  • One year of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Current Georgia medical license and DEA certification.
  • Ability to diagnose and treat pregnant patients.
  • Strong communication and follow-up/referral skills.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and aid in determination of pregnancies; provide prenatal care.
  • Consult with team physician and specialists in case conferences.
  • Monitor quality of patient care in collaboration with nursing leadership.
  • Guide nurse practitioners in management of antepartum patients.
  • Perform related duties as assigned by Lead Provider.

Position Summary:

Reports to the Chief Medical Officer; performs professional health services, such as examining and treating expectant mothers and aids in diagnoses, management and care of gynecological diseases within a comprehensive health center setting.


Position Description:


  • Examines and aids in the determination of pregnancies; serves as a consultant in pre-natal care; aids in the diagnoses and management of gynecological diseases; plays active role in family planning; consults with team physician and medical specialists in conferences involving specific cases.

  • Monitors the quality and quantity of patient care by the R.N.P. in collaboration with the Chief of Nursing.

  • Guides the nurse practitioner in the management of normal antepartum patients.

  • Performs related work as required and other duties as assigned by the Lead Provider.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:


  • Ability to diagnose.

  • Ability to examine and treat expectant mothers.

  • Ability to communicate.

  • Ability to be sensitive.

  • Ability to provide follow-up and referrals.


Minimum Qualifications:

M.D. degree with specialization and residency in OB/GYN; plus one (1) year of experience in health care setting. Must hold current Georgia license. Current D.E.A. certificate.


Typical Physical Demands:

Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination. Requires standing and walking for prolonged periods of time. Occasionally lifts and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Requires normal visual acuity and hearing. Requires exposures to communicable diseases and bodily fluids. Requires working under stress in emergency situations or during irregular hours.


Typical Physical Demands:

Frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
