Job summary

Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) seeks a full-time OB/GYN Hospitalist to join its Women’s Health team at California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. You will provide full-scope obstetric care in a high-acuity environment supported by a Level 3+ NICU and in-house subspecialists.

The role offers a flexible hospital-based schedule with 120 annual 12-hour shifts, one clinic day per week, and a collaborative, team-oriented culture.

Qualifications

• Provide full-scope inpatient obstetric care, including admission, labor management, delivery, and postpartum care.
• Manage obstetric triage and acute obstetric presentations.
• Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries and manage obstetric emergencies.
• Collaborate with SWBMG OB/GYN physicians, CNMs, and hospital teams.

Opportunity Information

Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is seeking a full-time OB/GYN Hospitalist to join a growing and collaborative Women's Health team at California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) in San Francisco. Our hospitalists provide full-scope obstetric care in a high-acuity environment supported by a Level 3+ NICU, with in-house neonatology, anesthesiology, maternal-fetal medicine, and midwifery support. You will work closely with SWBMG generalist OB/GYN physicians, certified nurse midwives, and hospital-based colleagues in a team-oriented model focused on safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

Schedule & Flexibility

This is a full-time opportunity designed for physicians who value a flexible hospital-based practice.

• 120 annual 12-hour shifts, which may be completed through a combination of 12-hour and 24-hour shifts


• Scheduling aligned with program needs and physician availability


• One clinic day per week


• In-house multidisciplinary support throughout hospital shifts


• Fully integrated Epic EMR across clinic and hospital settings

Position Details / Clinical Scope

Key responsibilities may include:

• Provide full-scope inpatient obstetric care, including evaluation, labor management, delivery, and postpartum care


• Manage obstetric triage and acute obstetric presentations


• Perform vaginal and cesarean deliveries and manage obstetric emergencies


• Collaborate closely with SWBMG OB/GYN physicians, certified nurse midwives, maternal-fetal medicine, anesthesiology, neonatology, and nursing teams


• Provide consultation and support for complex or high-risk obstetric patients


• Participate in one outpatient clinic day per week


• Support quality, safety, and clinical improvement initiatives within Women's Health


• Contribute to a collegial, team-based environment focused on high-quality, patient-centered care

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree


• Board certified or board eligible in Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG)


• Eligible for California medical licensure


• Strong clinical judgment and comfort managing a broad range of obstetric presentations

• Comfortable practicing in close collaboration with midwives and multidisciplinary hospital teams
