Job summary

Sanford Health, Marshfield Clinic – Eau Claire, seeks a full-time Nocturnist Hospitalist (BC/BE in Internal Medicine) to join the Hospital Medicine department. 12-hour night shifts from 7pm to 7am, 7 on/7 off. MMC – Eau Claire is a Trauma Level III with a 56-bed unit and an OPEN ICU. Involvement in education and research is encouraged.

The role covers medical and surgical consults across Med/Surg, ICU and step-down units, with a broad inpatient scope and a focus on comprehensive patient care.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited program.
  • Completed residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Current medical license in each state of practice.
  • DEA permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine (or equivalent).

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive inpatient care for adult patients.
  • Manage acute and chronic medical conditions.
  • Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Support education and research within the hospital medicine service.

The scope of patients on the Hospitalist Service is broad ranging and includes medical consultation for surgical and non-surgical subspecialty patients, including Med Surg, ICU and step-down units. Job Description

The Adult Nocturnist Physician provides comprehensive, inpatient care for adult patients in a hospital setting. This role focuses on the management of acute and chronic medical conditions, coordination of care with multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring high-quality, patient-centered outcomes throughout hospitalization.

Qualifications
  • M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
  • Current medical license in each state of practice.
  • State Controlled Substance License (if required by State)
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) permit to prescribe controlled substances in each state of practice.
  • Board Certified in Internal Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine; or Board Certified in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine; or equivalent (American Osteopathic Board, Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada).
  • Privileging documents and related credentialing requirements will supersede this job description in defining minimum qualifications, criteria, and scope of practice, if variation between documents exists.
