Job description

Summary

This is an open continuous announcement until September 30, 2025. Qualified applicants will be considered and referred as vacancies become available. The Neurologist is expected to perform all services required in the practice of Neurology within the VA system, including providing appropriate documentation in the electronic record.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, you must meet the basic requirements and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Applicants pending the completion of training or license requirements may be referred and tentatively selected but may not be hired until all requirements are met. Current VA employees who met the requirements at their initial appointment are deemed to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements

• United States Citizenship: Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens, in accordance with VA Policy.
• Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree from an approved medical school.
• Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in the US.
• Residency Training: Completion of an approved residency program leading to eligibility for board certification.
• Proficiency in spoken and written English.
• Board Certification / Eligible in the indicated specialty/sub-specialty.
• Physical Requirements: In accordance with VA Directive and Handbook 5019.

Duties

• Provide comprehensive neurological care to outpatients, including history taking, examination, diagnosis, follow-up, and documentation.
• Interpret diagnostic studies (EMG, EEG) and formulate treatment plans.
• Collaborate with other specialists and primary care teams.
• Prescribe medications legally and responsibly.
• Oversee all aspects of neurological care for assigned patients.
• Perform neurologic procedures (NCS/EMG, EEG interpretation, Botox administration) as trained and credentialed.
• Educate and supervise other healthcare professionals and trainees.
• Participate in inpatient and outpatient duties, including on-call responsibilities.

Work Schedule

Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with shared night and weekend call. Alternate schedules may be required based on organizational needs.
