Job description

Summary

A recruitment/relocation incentive may be offered to highly qualified candidate(s). This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) – please see below.

Responsibilities
  • Work up, diagnose, and provide non-surgical treatment including consultation for both admitted patients and outpatients requiring general internal medicine care and specialized nephrology problems.
  • Attend inpatient consultations as per assignment and schedule, providing complete assessment and comprehensive care plan.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively and timely with clinical nursing staff, peers, other subspecialty providers, and leadership.
  • Participate in care coordination for all patients in the dialysis unit, outpatient clinics, and inpatients with the utilization management team and case managers; work with social workers to address psychosocial issues.
  • Actively involve in teaching residents and students.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Competitive salary with annual performance bonus and regular salary increases.
  • Paid Time Off: 50–55 days per year (26 days annual leave, 13 days sick leave, 11 paid federal holidays, and up to 5 days paid absence for CME).
  • Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5-year vesting) and 401(k) with up to 5% federal contribution.
  • Insurance: Federal health, vision, dental, term life, long-term care (many federal programs carry into retirement).
  • Licensure: One full and unrestricted license from any U.S. state or territory.
  • CME reimbursement: Possible $1,000 per year (must be full-time with board certification).
  • Malpractice: Free liability protection with tail coverage.
  • Contract: No physician employment contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting.
  • Work schedule: Monday through Friday 8 am–4:30 pm (shifts may be required as per facility needs).
