A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Neonatologist for a locum tenens position in Eastern Mississippi. The role involves providing 24-hour call coverage in a Level III NICU, attending high-risk deliveries, and working with a supportive NNP team. This Neonatology Locum Tenens position is located in Mississippi. Location: Eastern Mississippi (Inquire for specific location). Duration: August 28 - ongoing. Reason for coverage: need additional coverage. Schedule: 1-4 weeks/month. Shift: Physicians will provide 24-hour call coverage (rounding and in-unit daily). Call: 24-hour call from hotel overnight. Call back not very often in the evening unless high-risk delivery that comes in unscheduled, likely no more than twice in a month. Patient volume: average daily census in the NICU is 6 and 7 in well baby. Scope: Level III NICU; They no longer have an oscillator but do have CMV, high flow, and bubble CPAP. They do not have cooling, surgery, or ECMO. Keeping babies 26 weeks and up or 600 grams and up as long as they are stable and not requiring surgery. Neonatologists assist NNPs with assessments if they are extremely busy and make rounds, but that can be delegated to NNP if preferred. Providers are expected to attend high-risk deliveries. EMR: Epic. Affiliated Hospital: Level 3 trauma facility with a 12-bed level 3 NICU. Group/support: NNP coverage 24/7 in-house. Requirements: Active MS license (considering IMLC). Board certified or truly board eligible.
