Job Summary:

The [Clinic] Medical Director provides leadership and administrative oversight of the daily operations of their respective area, including APPs. Responsibilities include schedule development, template management, clinical management, provider engagement, patient experience, and quality improvement.

The Medical Director collaborates with physicians/providers, the Vice Chair of [Area], and the Practice Manager, communicating about outpatient clinical activities, best practices, evidence-based guidelines, and fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Clinical Performance
  • Assigns clinical coverage to ensure timely patient access, aligning with hospital and Acclaim expectations.
  • Partners with Practice Managers to improve clinical efficiency and performance.
  • Oversees clinical work distribution, templates, patient access, and experience.
  • Acts as liaison with physicians/providers to ensure high standards of service and patient-centered care.
  • Communicates needs and progress in clinical performance improvement.
People Performance
  • Addresses team dynamics or behavioral issues with Vice Chair/Chair.
  • Monitors providers’ adherence to practice, quality, and behavioral standards, communicating concerns appropriately.
  • Participates in provider performance appraisals and recruitment processes.
Academic and Educational Activities
  • Supports education and professional development of medical students, residents, and fellows, providing mentoring and guidance.
Financial Performance and Growth Strategies
  • Works with Vice Chair on strategic goals to expand clinical services.
  • Estimates future staffing and resource needs.
  • Participates in strategic planning to improve performance and growth.
  • Enhances patient access and builds referral relationships.
Quality and Risk
  • Monitors quality and satisfaction metrics with Vice Chair.
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state directives.
  • Communicates policies and standards to physicians/providers in collaboration with leadership.
Community Engagement
  • Participates in community education and public relations initiatives as requested.
Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Medicine or Osteopathy from an accredited institution.
  • Board Certification in Cardiology and eligibility for Texas licensure.
  • Minimum of three years leadership experience in a large, complex hospital or health system.
  • Texas Medical License required.
