Job Summary and Responsibilities

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a highly motivated, skilled PRN Maternal Fetal Medicine physician to join our team in Tacoma, WA. The role includes predominantly outpatient clinic duties, some call responsibilities, and is mainly conducted from home. Providers typically see 0‑4 births per month and perform procedures such as cerclages, amniocentesis with CVS, and optional fetal echocardiograms. Support staff, including medical assistants, nurses, and sonographers, assist with diabetic education and sonography.

Position Overview

Our women’s health group consists of 9 OB/GYN physicians, 18 CNMs, 6 MFMs, 1 urogynecologist, and 2 gynecologic oncologists. We provide evidence‑based care to the Tacoma community and surrounding areas from locations near our hospitals.

Job Requirements

• MD or DO, board certified or eligible (must achieve board certification within two years)
• Washington State medical license required at time of employment
• DEA, NPI, and prescriptive authority
• Current BLS for Health Providers certification by the American Heart Association

Where You'll Work

St. Joseph Hospital is a 375‑bed, Level II trauma center located in Tacoma. It offers 24/7 labor‑ist and anesthesia coverage, a Level III NICU, and a partnership with Seattle Children’s for specialty newborn care. You will be part of Virginia Mason Franciscan Health’s integrated system, which spans 11 hospitals and nearly 300 sites across the greater Puget Sound region.
