This is professional medical work in providing advanced or specialized treatment services in a clinic or unit of an institution or other patient care facility of the state. Employees consistently provide outstanding staff level medical services and are frequently called upon to solve difficult medical problems and to work on special projects. Work may include the guidance and review of work performed by other staff level physicians and may infrequently require employees to fulfill the role of director of the work unit. While work is performed with independent professional responsibility, employees are generally accountable to a non-medical or physician director of the total program.

Longleaf Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (LNMTC), located in Wilson, NC, is a state-operated certified Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF).
