Job description

The Physician - 1099 role at LifeMD is a full-time remote telemedicine contract serving patients in the United States. LifeMD pays $145 per hour for clinical work that combines text-based and video-based consultations with virtual primary care and weight management. The role is open to a board-certified Family Medicine physician who has at least three years of primary care experience.

The physician prescribes medications, provides refills, educates patients about treatment plans, and follows ongoing care programs. The role also includes supervising or collaborating with Nurse Practitioners. Residence in Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina, or Tennessee is required, along with licensure in multiple states and prior GLP-1 prescribing experience. LifeMD's remote physician openings connect clinical work with a multi-state care model.

The application should identify Family Medicine board certification, qualifying state licenses, and prior GLP-1 prescribing experience. A clean background and medical malpractice history are also required.

Text And Video Consultations

The physician delivers care through text-based and video-based consultations. Each consultation includes clinical assessment, treatment education, and a personalized care plan. The role covers virtual primary care and weight loss programs, so the physician addresses both immediate concerns and longer-term treatment decisions.

Follow-up work continues after the initial consultation. The physician oversees patients enrolled in ongoing care programs, responds to clinical concerns, and provides medication refills when appropriate. Supervising or collaborating with Nurse Practitioners adds a clinical coordination responsibility to the direct patient work.

  • Conduct text-based consultations.
  • Conduct video-based consultations.
  • Educate patients about treatments and personalized care plans.
  • Oversee follow-ups for ongoing care programs.
  • Prescribe medications and provide refills.
  • Supervise or collaborate with Nurse Practitioners.
Virtual Primary Care And Weight Management

LifeMD's care model uses secure video consultations , phone calls, and online messaging to connect patients with licensed medical professionals. Virtual primary care includes acute concerns, chronic-condition management, routine checkups, preventive care, and medication management. The physician's clinical decisions remain tied to the patient's history, symptoms, treatment response, and care needs.

Weight management requires careful follow-up as treatment changes. The physician educates patients about the selected plan, monitors progress, evaluates concerns, and adjusts treatment when the clinical picture supports a change. Prior experience prescribing GLP-1 medications is a stated qualification for this role, while the underlying care model also includes specialized treatment programs.

Family Medicine Credentials

Board certification in Family Medicine is required, along with at least three years of experience diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions in primary care. The role also calls for a clean background and medical malpractice history. Telemedicine experience is preferred, and the work requires a physician who is comfortable with clinical technology, organized documentation, and independent decision-making.

Multi-state practice requires attention to the rules that apply where each patient is located. The AAFP telehealth requirements guide explains that state rules govern licensure, consent, prescribing, professional standards, and medical-record duties. The physician must maintain the licenses and practice permissions needed for the states served through the role.

Contract Scheduling And Coverage

The contract uses full-time telemedicine consultations with flexible shifts. A remote schedule places the physician's examination, documentation, patient education, prescribing, and follow-up work inside a digital clinical workflow. Strong organization matters because each encounter can involve assessment, treatment explanation, medication decisions, and a later response to the patient's progress.

  • LifeMD includes malpractice insurance coverage with the role.

The physician's background should also reflect the professional standards expected in primary care, including accurate records, appropriate escalation, and communication about the limits of remote evaluation. Critical or life-threatening symptoms require emergency services rather than a virtual appointment.

LifeMD's Clinical Network

LifeMD describes itself as a 50-state direct-to-patient telehealth company with a 50-state medical group. Its clinical work includes virtual primary care, diagnostics, specialized treatment, and a nationwide mail-order pharmacy network. The company also uses a proprietary technology platform and an in-house pharmacy initiative. These services give the physician's work a broader clinical setting than a single virtual appointment.

The LifeMD careers information identifies licensed providers, virtual primary care, specialized treatment programs, and a clinical organization that serves patients across the country. The company also lists care areas such as men's health, women's health, allergy and asthma, dermatology, mental health, cardiovascular health, and weight management. The Physician - 1099 role sits within that wider clinical network while keeping Family Medicine and primary care at the center of the work.

Remote care can require an in-person step when a patient needs imaging, blood-pressure checks, blood tests, or another form of testing. The physician identifies those needs during the virtual encounter and connects the treatment plan to the appropriate next clinical service. That decision-making keeps telemedicine within the boundaries of what can be assessed safely online.

LifeMD's provider workflow also includes encrypted communication channels designed to comply with HIPAA requirements. The physician's work therefore combines clinical judgment with careful handling of patient information, state-specific practice duties, and treatment follow-up. The contract's multi-state scope, Family Medicine credential, and weight-management experience define the clinical profile LifeMD is seeking.
