Physician Liaison (Mid or Senior-level)

This position will support Penn Medicine Princeton Health in the Central New Jersey market.

Job Summary

The Physician Liaison is primarily responsible for developing and implementing a marketing and sales plan to grow referrals from providers and/or physician practices to Penn Medicine programs. The Physician Liaison is the primary face of Penn Medicine to referring providers and is responsible for increasing loyalty and preference to Penn Medicine. Responsibilities include understanding key referral relationships, referring provider needs, building and supporting relationships, coordinating and acting as a key resource for internal and external clients, and identifying new business opportunities with referring practices.

Responsibilities

• Leadership: Understanding of matrixed health system relationships with ability to position opportunities and challenges to effectively facilitate resolution; serve as the market and audience expert, providing actionable intelligence for network and program development.
• Strategic Capabilities: Identify and target ways of bringing business to Penn Medicine through new and established referring physician relationships using various referral data sources.
• Programmatic Expertise: Expertise in referral pathways and how they apply to different business development needs at different sales cycle stages.
• Message Development: Apply data and market intelligence to craft audience-specific messages to enhance referral opportunities.
• Communications: Facilitate outreach conversations with providers, prepare providers for engagement, and share intelligence that leads to actionable discussions.
• Field Engagement: Regularly engage referring providers to build and strengthen relationships, using clinical and programmatic education materials.
• Sales Planning & Execution: Use comprehensive sales skills, create targeted sales plans, utilize data to inform messaging, and reach volume goals. Maintain PRM database with activity entries and contact targets.

Credentials

• Valid driver's license, car availability with appropriate insurance coverage (Required)

Education or Equivalent Experience

• Bachelor of Arts or Science (Required), preferably in healthcare, business, or related field.
• 5+ years of healthcare professional or administrative experience, with prior experience working with healthcare providers (Required).

Skills & Abilities

• Self-motivated, entrepreneurial spirit, strong time management, ability to work in a matrixed environment, and professional representation of Penn Medicine.

Senior Physician Liaison

Includes responsibilities to build relationships with referring providers, identify new business opportunities, and support Penn Medicine programs, with daily travel and proficiency in MSCRM database.

• 7+ years of healthcare experience, prior sales experience in medical/pharmaceutical/device fields preferred, experience in academic medical centers advantageous.

• Medical terminology knowledge, strong interpersonal and communication skills, computer literacy, team-oriented, ambitious, and proficient in referral data analysis.
