Job summary

MultiCare Tacoma General Hospital in Washington state seeks an experienced obstetrician-gynecologist to participate in inpatient obstetric care, including labor, delivery and postpartum services. You will respond to emergencies, perform cesarean sections, and collaborate with nursing and consulting teams to ensure safe, timely care.

A physician attending unassigned patients and supporting private practices may be involved.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree with OB-GYN residency completed.
• Board certified or eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Licensed to practice in Washington at time of employment.
• DEA, NPI and prescriptive authority required.
• Current BLS certification from American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric care for laboring patients, including delivery.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies and perform cesarean sections as needed.
• Manage obstetric triage and coordinate with nursing staff for timely care.
• Attend unassigned patients and support private-practice physicians as needed.

Position Summary

Physician participating in the care of inpatient obstetrical patients, including but not limited to coverage for labor and delivery and postpartum patients, obstetric emergencies, and triage.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive obstetric care for patients presenting in labor, including evaluation, management, and delivery.
• Respond to obstetric emergencies and perform necessary surgical interventions, including cesarean sections.
• Manage obstetric triage and collaborate with nursing staff to ensure timely and appropriate care.
• Serve as the attending physician for unassigned patients and support private-practice physicians as needed.
• Ensure continuity of care by communicating effectively with outpatient providers and consulting services.
• Prescribe and administer medications or therapies to treat disease or injury.
• Order radiologic imaging or labs as indicated.
• Document all patient interactions accurately and timely in the electronic health record (EHR) inclusive of direct patient encounters and asynchronous care.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical education, and interdisciplinary team meetings.

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or DO) and completion of a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
• Board certified/eligible in Obstetrics and Gynecology at time of employment.
• Licensed in the state of WA by the time of employment.
• DEA, NPI & prescriptive authority.
• Current BLS for Healthcare Providers certification by the American Heart Association.
• Strong diagnostic, surgical, and communication skills.
• Compassionate bedside manner and ability to handle emergency situations.

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $250.00 - $250.00 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
