The initiative emphasizes the translation genetic discoveries into daily clinical practice to advance both the implementation and study of precision medicine and population genomic research. This effort supports the larger Baylor College Medicine wide strategic initiative of precision medicine in a Learning Health System. The new position will be a hybrid research/clinical role and will come with a generous start up package including protected research time of up to 50%. The successful candidate will contribute to setting and implementing strategic priorities and provide clinical oversight for items related to phenotype harmonization, data infrastructure design, and outcomes assessment. The ideal applicant should be at the Assistant/Associate Professor level. Candidates should be trained and certified and able to practice in an Internal Medicine discipline (cardiovascular or digestive diseases are preferred), and trained in clinical informatics, population genetic research, implementation science or related disciplines. Preference will be given to candidates who have or close to having research funding or have relevant experiences in implementing genomic research.

BCM is a stand-alone health sciences university within Houston's Texas Medical Center, the world's largest medical center. BCM is ranked #1 in Texas in funding by National Institutes of Health and among top 20 medical colleges in The U.S. News & World Report. The HGSC at BCM was one of the five centers to complete the Human Genome Project. Since that time, the HGSC pioneered both the field of personal genomics through whole genome sequencing of individuals and the 'exome capture' methods that are now routinely used for genetic diagnostics. The HGSC has been funded to a level of more than half a billion dollars since inception and maintains a national leadership position in advancing genome technologies in the clinic.
