Job description

This position offers eligibility for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan repayment initiative. Applicants must meet specific eligibility criteria as per VHA policy and submit their EDRP application within four months of appointment. The program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services after review of the application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic requirements and any additional criteria listed in the job announcement. Pending completion of training or licensing requirements, candidates may be tentatively referred or selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Current VA-employed physicians who met initial appointment requirements under previous standards are considered to have met the basic requirements.

Basic Requirements:

  • U.S. Citizenship; non-citizens only when qualified citizens cannot be recruited, per VA policy
  • Degree of Doctor of Medicine or equivalent from an approved school
  • Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in the U.S.
  • Completion of residency training approved by the VA, leading to eligibility for board certification
  • For residents enrolled in accredited programs, appointment as Physician Resident Providers (PRPs) is permitted under specific conditions
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English

Preferred Experience:

  • Fellowship or residency in interventional radiology
  • Board certification or eligibility in interventional radiology
  • Proficiency in multimodality and multi-organ diagnostic radiology
  • Experience in teaching and performing IR procedures

Physical Requirements: This role may involve long periods of lifting (15-44 pounds), carrying, walking, standing, and visual and auditory tasks requiring specific capabilities.

Duties
