Summary

The VAMC in Lexington, Kentucky, is recruiting for an Interventional Radiologist to serve as a full-time medical service physician. The position reports to the Chief of Radiology and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of state-of-the-art care by meeting or exceeding compliance standards.

Qualifications

To qualify, applicants must meet the basic and any additional requirements listed in the job announcement. Pending training or license completion applicants may be tentatively selected but cannot be hired until all requirements are fulfilled. Existing VA physicians who met previous qualification standards are deemed qualified.

Basic Requirements:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens only if recruitment of qualified citizens is not possible)
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an approved school
• Current, unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
• Completed residency training in an accredited program leading to board eligibility
• Proficiency in spoken and written English

Physical Requirements: Moderate lifting and carrying, straight pulling, pushing, reaching, walking, standing, kneeling, bending, rapid coordination, vision and hearing abilities.

Duties

• Maintain credentials and privileges in diagnostic and interventional radiology
• Provide direct patient care in interventional radiology including triage, pre- and post-procedure care
• Support VHA policies and standards
• Assist in drafting standard operating procedures
• Review imaging requests and schedule procedures
• Provide on-call services as needed
• Ensure proper documentation and safety protocols
• Interpret radiologic images and generate reports
• Supervise technical staff and oversee radiology practices
• Participate in research and hospital committees
• Serve as clinical director if needed
• Work under the direction of the Chief of Radiology
• Communicate effectively and courteously with patients and staff
• Care for a primarily geriatric patient population
• Protect patient data and adhere to privacy laws
