Qualifications

• MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
• Completion of Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency.
• Board-Certified or Board-Eligible in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
• Licensed to practice in North Carolina.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate and manage hospitalized adult patients during overnight shifts.
• Assess new admissions, develop treatment plans, and monitor patients' clinical progress.
• Respond to urgent medical situations, rapid responses, and code events.
• Coordinate care with emergency department physicians, nursing staff, specialists, and daytime hospitalists.
• Perform patient assessments, order diagnostic testing, prescribe treatments, and document clinical decisions.
• Provide cross-coverage for hospitalized patients and manage changes in patient condition.
• Participate in handoffs to ensure continuity of care between day and night teams.
• Follow hospital protocols, clinical guidelines, and patient-safety standards.
• Perform procedures if required by the facility and within the physician's competency.
