Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Perform in-patient attending consultation rounds in rotation with other faculty.
  • Maintain a weekly Infectious Diseases ambulatory clinic.
  • Provide formal educational instruction by presenting at key Internal Medicine and ID conferences.
  • Mentor house staff and students and contribute to scholarly activities.

Position Title Physician - Infectious Diseases Bell Hospital

Position Summary / Career Interest: The University of Kansas Health System is seeking an infectious diseases faculty member to join its expanding team. This physician will support the departmental mission of delivering the highest quality of care, as well as satisfying teaching, research, and academic responsibilities at the region's quaternary referral center. The Division of Infectious Diseases provides onsite services at The University of Kansas Health main campus, Olathe campus, Kansas City VA Hospital, and Great Bend campus via telemedicine.

About the Position

The ideal candidate will be able to perform in-patient attending consultation rounds in rotation with other faculty members and maintain a weekly ID ambulatory clinic with potential for general infectious diseases population and specialist populations based on individual interest and expertise.

Patient care duties may involve training medical students, residents, fellows, or other learners.

Candidates will also be able to provide formal educational instruction by consistently attending and presenting at key Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases conferences including but not limited to Core Curriculum, Case Conference, Journal Club, Patient Safety, Clinical Pathological Conferences and Antimicrobial Stewardship and will provide specialty content updates emphasizing pathophysiology, clinical and diagnostic principles and emerging therapeutic interventions.

Additionally, candidates will participate in formal scholarship activities including but not limited to mentorship of house staff and student academic projects, conduction and dissemination of scientific discoveries, participation in Divisional and Institutional scholarship activities with an emphasis on specialty areas of expertise and to continually foster an environment of learning and discovery.
