Job description

The Central Alabama Veterans Health Care System (CAVHCS), located in Montgomery and Tuskegee, AL, is seeking an energetic Infectious Disease Physician to provide consultation and treatment for patients across all care settings. The physician may also have attending duties when needed.

Responsibilities include:

1. Providing direct patient care
2. Participating in outpatient clinics at both Montgomery and Tuskegee campuses
3. Chairing or participating in committees and workgroups
4. Collaborating with Infectious Control Nurses
5. Participating in student and resident training programs
6. On-call duties, including off-hour shifts, weekends, and holidays as needed
7. Engaging in quality management and performance improvement initiatives
8. Meeting performance measures
9. Utilization review and management
10. Applying evidence-based practices
11. Performing administrative and other assigned functions

Work Schedule:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with potential weekend, holiday, and on-call duties.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary up to $215,000 per year
• Relocation/Recruitment incentives for highly qualified candidates
• Possible education loan assistance through the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), subject to funding

Qualifications Required:

• U.S. Citizenship (non-citizens may be considered if qualified citizens are unavailable)
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Doctor of Medicine or equivalent degree from an accredited school approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs at the time of graduation
• Current, unrestricted medical license in the U.S.
