Job description

Coverage Needed
  • ASAP - August 31, 2023
Schedule
  • 6 shifts per month
Clinical Details
  • Procedures: Circumcisions
  • Trauma level 3
  • Provide clinical support/service to deliveries, C-sections, newborn nursery, Level II NICU, and IP Pediatric beds for newborn to 18 years
  • Other Onsite Specialties: ENT consultations for some pediatric cases; Ortho trauma and Acute Care Surgery may admit children based on comfort level; pediatrics may be asked to admit due to trauma regulations
  • Typical Day:
    • Possible 7:30 am C-section
    • Round with family practice residents on nursery, Level 2 NICU, and floor patients at 9:30-10:00 am
    • Approximately 6 Nursery, 2 Level 2 NICU, and 2-3 floor patients daily; Midnight ADC at 9-10 pm
    • Supervise circumcisions with residents
    • Attend all high-risk deliveries including C-sections
    • Handle transfers and ED consults as needed
    • On call responsibilities include attending high-risk deliveries, precepting residents via phone, and responding to decompensating patients, emergencies, or procedures
    • While on call, triage pediatric patient pages
Requirements
  • Active PA license
  • Board Certified (BC)
  • ACLS, BLS, CPR, NALS, PALS certifications
  • Minimum of 3 years experience
Call Schedule
  • Average admissions while on call: 2 (range 0-4/5)
  • Approximately one weekend per month
  • Weekend shift: 0700 Friday to 0700 Monday; 1 shift/week x 3 weeks
  • Client prefers 3x 24-hour shifts per month, in addition to the weekend shift
  • Shifts can be spread out or grouped flexibly throughout the month
