WakeMed Hospitalist team provides quality clinical care to patients in the Hospitalist division with a team of physicians, PAs and NPs committed to the Wake Way and improving community health. The EMR is Epic, and shifts are flexible with 10-hour days typically 8 am–6 pm; a dedicated nocturnist group makes overnight shifts less likely.
The physician may provide teaching and supervision to APPs, medical students and residents, and may assume responsibility for coding and corporate compliance,
The WakeMed Hospitalist physician is responsible for providing quality clinical care to patients cared for by the Hospitalist division. Work with a team of experienced and highly skilled physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners that are committed to the Wake Way as we pursue improving the health and well-being of our community by providing outstanding and compassionate care to all. The physician may be responsible for providing teaching and supervision to APP's within their division. The physician may also opt into being responsible for providing teaching and supervision to medical students and residents. The physician is responsible for appropriate coding and corporate compliance and may be responsible for some general administrative responsibilities of the practice. The physician reports directly to the Hospitalist Medical Director and understands and supports the mission values and management of WakeMed Physician Practices and WakeMed. EMR is Epic. Shift schedule is flexible and variable with 10-hour shifts that are typically 8 am to 6 pm though other shifts exist that may necessitate afternoon and evening hours (e.g. 2 pm to midnight, 4 pm to 2 am). We do have a dedicated nocturnist group which makes overnight shifts less likely. ICU is closed with onsite 24/7 critical care support. Procedures are optional as we have onsite support from numerous specialists (e.g. Interventional Radiology)
