Job summary

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Hospice and Palliative Medicine physician for a temporary assignment in Lake Saint Louis, Missouri. These positions are 13-week locum tenens contracts with the ability to extend.

Work full-time in a hospice/home-based care setting with remote duties and on-site orientation. Must be board-certified or eligible in Hospice & Palliative Medicine and maintain MO licensure.

Qualifications

• Hospice and Palliative Medicine board-certified or eligible.
• MO state licensure required.
• DEA registration required.
• Experience with hospice/palliative care preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide hospice physician locum tenens coverage for a hospice/home-based care setting.
• Work full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
• Perform duties remotely, with initial on-site orientation and occasional in-person visits as needed.
• Participate in Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings every other week, Tuesday through Thursday.
• Provide rotating telephone-only call coverage every fourth week, Sunday through Saturday.
• Conduct hospice admissions and eligibility assessments.
• Perform recertifications and verbal certifications for hospice patients.
• Manage symptoms and prescribe medications for primarily adult hospice patients.
• Provide clinical oversight and supervision of interdisciplinary hospice team, nursing staff, and clinical support staff.
• Complete and maintain accurate clinical documentation using Epic (strongly preferred).
• Complete death certificates as needed.
• Collaborate with nursing staff who handle in-person visits and death pronouncements.
• Maintain valid Missouri (MO) state licensure.
• Maintain DEA registration as required for medication prescribing responsibilities.
• Demonstrate hospice and palliative medicine experience or board certification.
• Adhere to COVID-19 vaccination requirements (medical/religious exemptions only).
