Opportunity Information

Sutter Medical Group (SMG) is seeking a board-certified/board-eligible Hematologist/Oncologist with advanced training and interest in cellular therapy and hematopoietic cell transplantation to join our established and expanding team in Sacramento, CA. This is a full-time, clinically focused opportunity to practice the full spectrum of hematologic care, including malignant and classical hematology, with emphasis on stem cell transplantation and adoptive cellular therapies such as CAR-T.

The ideal candidate will be committed to excellence in patient care, education, and research in a highly collaborative and multidisciplinary environment. Whether you are newly fellowship-trained or an experienced transplant physician, this position offers robust support and growth potential in one of Northern California's premier integrated care systems.

Clinical Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct inpatient and outpatient care for patients with hematologic malignancies, including management of cellular therapy (e.g., CAR-T) and autologous/allogeneic stem cell transplantation.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team including transplant coordinators, nurse navigators, and specialty RNs to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary tumor boards, case conferences, and clinical rounds.
  • Opportunity to teach and mentor residents through Sutter Health?s Family Medicine Residency Program.
  • Involved in the continuum of care from initial consultation through long-term survivorship and follow-up.

Research & Academic Engagement:

  • Participate in clinical and translational research, with support from the Sutter Institute for Medical Research (SIMR).
  • Engage in the design, enrollment, and execution of clinical trials, including investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies.
  • Contribute to departmental educational activities, journal clubs, and academic discussions.
Qualifications
  • MD or DO from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Hematology (and/or Medical Oncology).
  • Fellowship training in Hematology/Oncology with a focus on cellular therapy and/or stem cell transplantation.
  • Eligible for medical licensure in California.
  • Experience with CAR-T and immune effector cell therapies preferred, but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to collaborative patient care.
