Job summary

Wellstar Health System in Austell, GA invites you to join our Internal Medicine Residency Program as an Outpatient GME Core Faculty member. This full-time 1.0 FTE role emphasizes resident education, clinical teaching, and scholarly activity within the outpatient Internal Medicine Clinic.

You will supervise residents, deliver didactic sessions, participate in CCC and PEC, support wellness, and contribute to curriculum development and quality improvement, reporting to the Program Director.

Qualifications

• Board-certified in Internal Medicine; board-eligible candidates considered.
• Strong interest in medical education and resident development.
• Commitment to clinical excellence, collaboration, and patient-centered care.
• Prior GME or academic teaching experience preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and mentor Internal Medicine residents in outpatient settings.

About The Program

With a proud history dating back to 1953, Wellstar Cobb’s Internal Medicine Residency Program has a longstanding tradition of academic excellence and physician development. Our established program provides comprehensive clinical training, combining hands-on experience, evidence-based medicine, and a strong commitment to resident education.

Position Structure

This is a full-time 1.0 FTE Outpatient GME Core Faculty position.

Appropriate protected non-clinical time will be provided for resident education, curriculum development, accreditation support, faculty development, and scholarly activity, aligned with program and institutional priorities.

Position Highlights

• Serve as outpatient core faculty within the GME Internal Medicine Clinic.
• Supervise, teach, evaluate, and mentor Internal Medicine residents.
• Participate in the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) and Program Evaluation Committee (PEC).
• Deliver didactic lectures and participate in conferences and clinical case discussions.
• Promote evidence-based medicine, professionalism, and high-quality patient care.
• Support resident wellness, professional development, and scholarly growth.
• Contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement, and ongoing program advancement.
• Engage in scholarly activities, research, and professional development opportunities.
• Report directly to the Internal Medicine Program Director.
