Job summary

The WVU School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine seek a Geriatrician to join the Section of Geriatrics, Palliative Medicine and Hospice, with duties centered in Morgantown, WV. The successful candidate may be assigned to additional WV sites as needed.

The role includes providing geriatrics care and actively teaching medical students, residents and fellows within WVU Medicine, with opportunities for collaboration across specialties.

Qualifications

• MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and eligibility for state medical license.
• Completed Internal Medicine or Family Medicine residency.
• Completed Geriatrics fellowship.
• Board certification or eligibility in Geriatrics by time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Practice in the areas of Geriatrics at WVU/WVU Medicine.
• Teach medical students, residents, and fellows as part of the clinical program.

West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department ofMedicine seek a Geriatrician to join the Section of Geriatrics,Palliative Medicine and Hospice (ranks available: AssistantProfessor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successfulcandidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.

Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also beassigned to provide services at additional worksites in WestVirginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travelwould be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at theseadditional sites.

Duties:

• The successful candidate will practice in the areas ofGeriatrics.
• In addition to providing excellent patient care, thesuccessful candidate will also be actively involved in teachingmedical students, residents, and fellows.

Qualifications:

• Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreignequivalent and be eligible for state medical license.
• Successfulcandidate must have completed an Internal Medicine or FamilyMedicine residency program, as well as Geriatrics fellowshipprogram.
• Successful candidates must be board certified / eligiblein Geriatrics.
• All qualifications must be met by the time ofappointment.

The Section of Geriatrics, Palliative Medicine and Hospice at WVUhas the main mission to advance health care and quality of life forolder people and those with serious illnesses.

Our Geriatric team works closely with our patient's primary carephysicians and with other specialists within WVU Medicine includingcardiology, oncology, neurology and pulmonary. Faculty providespecialized geriatric consultation for frail, older adults withcomplex, life-threatening, or chronic conditions including dementiaand delirium.

Our Palliative Medicine and Hospice team provides patient andfamily centered care that offers quality of life for patients withlife limiting illnesses by anticipating, preventing, and treatingsuffering. Inpatient and outpatient services are provided,including local nursing homes.
