About the Role:

The Physician Gastroenterology role is centered on providing expert medical care to patients with disorders of the digestive system, including the esophagus, stomach, intestines, liver, pancreas, and gallbladder in both and inpatient and outpatient setting. This position requires diagnosing complex gastrointestinal conditions, developing personalized treatment plans, and performing specialized procedures such as endoscopies and colonoscopies. The physician will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care and optimize health outcomes. Additionally, the role involves staying current with advancements in gastroenterology to apply evidence-based practices. Ultimately, the physician will play a critical role in improving patients' quality of life through compassionate, precise, and effective gastrointestinal healthcare. This will be accomplished in a collaboration with the other providers in the office and support staff.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Gastroenterology.
  • Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in Ohio.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in performing gastrointestinal diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Fellowship training in advanced endoscopic techniques.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and healthcare informatics.
  • Strong background in patient education and community health initiatives.
  • Additional certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough patient evaluations including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic testing to identify gastrointestinal diseases.
  • Perform and interpret endoscopic procedures such as upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, and other minimally invasive techniques.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans, including medical management, lifestyle recommendations, and referrals to specialists as needed.
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals including advance practice providers, surgeons, radiologists, dietitians, and nursing staff to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and standards.
  • Educate patients and their families about gastrointestinal conditions, treatment options, and preventive care strategies.
  • Participate in continuing medical education and quality improvement initiatives to enhance clinical skills and patient outcomes.
