Description:A locum tenens opportunity is available for a physician in the field of Internal Medicine with a focus on Gastroenterology.The position requires availability for 24-hour on-call shifts.Providers are needed for both clinic and call coverage, but just call coverage is required.Experience with upper GI endoscopy, including biopsy and foreign body removal, is necessary.Fulguration of bleeder procedures and injection of varices are required skills.Diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including PEG and esophageal dilatation/manometry, are also needed.Lower GI endoscopy, including colonoscopy with biopsy and excision of polyps, is required.Liver biopsy and management of Sengstaken/Blakemore tubes are necessary skills.Endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) is not required for this position.The facility operates at trauma level 3, and a pediatric level 2 is required.The physician will encounter 0-6 patients per shift.Mid-level support is not available.This position will accommodate one full-time equivalent (FTE) but may also consider two part-time providers.Credentialing is expected to take approximately 90 days.Interested candidates should be prepared to cover the requested shifts throughout the year.
