Job description

JOB SUMMARY

The duties of the Physician-Family Practice position include, but are not limited to, providing diagnosis, treatment, consultation, education and follow-up care to adult patients, proper maintenance of records, acting as the Supervisory Physician of Mid-level Providers and Residents as required, and any other reasonable and proper duties assigned.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
  1. Perform histories, physicals and prescribing a diagnostic, education, preventive and/or treatment plan within the standards of accepted medical practice
  2. Perform and/or order labs, diagnostic procedures, and make appropriate referrals as necessary
  3. Maintain patient records
  4. Adhere to proper charting protocols
  5. Coordinate continuity of medical care for patients
  6. Promote health by advising patients on diet, hygiene and prevention of disease
  7. Inoculate and vaccinate as required
  8. Perform minor surgery as necessary
  9. Report deaths and contagious diseases to governmental authorities
  10. Other responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  1. Doctoral degree, either M.D. or D.O., in medicine
  2. Minimum of 5 years experience
  3. Minimum of 2 years teaching experience in a clinical environment, preference
  4. Must have and maintain a current New Mexico License in good standing
  5. Board Certified/Eligible
  6. DEA & NM Controlled Substance Registration

  1. Prior experience using an electronic medical records system
  2. Bilingual a plus, but not required

  1. Reports to the Medical Director
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  1. Communicate effectively with patients and staff
  2. Be able to sit, stand or view a computer screen for extended periods of time
  3. Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods of time
  4. Be able to use hand and fingers to handle or feel
  5. Be able to reach with hands and arms
