Job summary

77 consultants seeks a board-certified physician for Flight Medicine/Occupational Health roles in Anchorage, AK. You will deliver comprehensive physician services, provide clinical oversight, educate staff, and perform exams, diagnoses, and treatment plans within privileges and guidelines.

The role includes PCM for active-duty members and dependents, manage referrals, inpatient admissions, health surveillance, records, and participate in care conferences. Schedule: Mon-Fri, 7:30 AM–4:30 PM.

Qualifications

  • MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
  • ECFMG certification for international medical graduates.
  • Completion of ACGME-accredited internship and residency, plus at least one year of supervised clinical experience.
  • Graduate training from programs recognized by U.S./Canadian bodies.
  • Experience meeting credentialing standards: minimum 35 hours direct patient care in the prior year and at least 3 years relevant clinical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver physician services within privileges authorized by the Medical Treatment Facility.
  • Provide clinical oversight and education of healthcare professionals; train staff and present educational content.
  • Examinations, diagnoses, treatment plans, and prescribing within training, experience, and privileges.
  • Provide preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals and patient education.
  • Order diagnostic tests and coordinate referrals to specialists or clinics as needed.
  • Supervise clinical practice and training; ensure compliance with governmental/professional standards.
  • Serve as PCM for assigned patient panel including active-duty members and families; manage referrals.
  • Manage inpatient admissions per local MTF protocols.
  • Analyze medical surveillance data for Occupational Health program.
  • Prepare records and reports to support service delivery; participate in care meetings and reviews.

Job description

Job-Specific Responsibilities and Tasks:

The following duties are central to the role and encompass, but not limited to:

  • Delivering comprehensive physician services in alignment with privileges authorized by the Medical Treatment Facility (MTF).
  • Providing technical oversight, performing, and assisting in the education of healthcare professionals within the context of granted clinical privileges.
  • Conducting patient examinations, formulating diagnoses, managing treatment plans, and prescribing therapies within the limits of training, clinical experience, and privileges.
  • Offering preventive care and health maintenance, which includes performing annual physical examinations and promoting positive health behaviors and self-care techniques through effective education and counseling.
  • Ordering relevant diagnostic tests and coordinating consultations or referrals with appropriate specialists, clinics, or health resources when necessary.
  • Demonstrating technical proficiency in supervising clinical practice and training other medical staff, delivering educational presentations, and engaging in in-service training for clinic personnel. All activities should comply with applicable governmental and professional clinical standards as well as accepted protocols.
  • Identifying, interpreting, and applying current relevant regulations,
  • Providing healthcare services to beneficiaries assigned to the Flight Medicine Clinic, Occupational Health Clinic, or other designated civilian Flight Medicine physician roles, encompassing comprehensive and continuous health maintenance along with medical care—this includes preventative, behavioral, occupational, and community health management.
  • Serving as the primary care manager (PCM) for an assigned panel of patients, including active-duty service members and their families, involving:
    • Approving or denying subspecialty referrals and overseeing case management processes.
    • Addressing patient telephone inquiries with the aid of clinic staff.
  • Managing inpatient admissions according to local MTF protocols.
  • Analyzing and acting on medical surveillance data pertinent to the Occupational Health program.
  • Compiling and preparing necessary records and reports to support service delivery in accordance with established procedures.
  • Participating in relevant meetings, including patient care reports, case review discussions, and professional staff conferences, specifically for cases related to assigned responsibilities or service performance.
Sign-On and Relocation Bonus:

$40,000.00

Schedule:

Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, totaling 8 hours per day with a 1-hour lunch break.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Degree: M.D. (Doctor of Medicine) or D.O. (Doctor of Osteopathy).
  • Education: Completion of medical education in the U.S., Canada, or other approved institutions as recognized by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education of the AMA, or by the AOA for osteopathic schools, with ECFMG certification for international medical graduates.
  • Internship/Residency: Successful completion of an ACGME-approved internship and residency program that corresponds with the specialty outlined in the task order. Following the attainment of the M.D. or D.O. degree, candidates must have at least one year of supervised clinical experience (internship or first year of residency) in accredited settings. Graduate training must be from programs recognized within the U.S. or Canadian accreditation bodies.
  • *Internship*: Exposure to diverse clinical practices under supervision, including but not limited to internal medicine, surgery, general practice, obstetrics-gynecology, and pediatrics, in accredited healthcare institutions.
  • *Residency*: Specialized training in a defined medical field at accredited hospitals or institutions.
  • *Fellowship*: Advanced post-residency training in a specific medical specialty within clinical or research environments at accredited institutions.
  • Experience: Must meet clinical competency standards as detailed in credentialing instructions, specifically:
    • A minimum of 35 hours providing direct patient care in the preceding year.
    • A minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience.
