Responsibilities

You will serve as a Family Practice Physician with duties including:

  • Examining active duty personnel, family members, and authorized beneficiaries to diagnose diseases and conditions.
  • Providing appropriate care or referring cases requiring hospitalization or subspecialty care.
  • Performing procedures such as vasectomy, reduction of simple fractures, lumbar puncture, emergency deliveries, endometrial biopsy, joint aspiration/injection, and proctosigmoidoscopy.
  • Reviewing physical requirements and conducting physical examinations of military and civilian personnel.
  • Supervising medical students, externs, residents, and other healthcare providers when needed.
Qualifications

Basic Requirements for Supervisory Physician (Family Practice):

  • Degree: MD or DO from an accredited U.S. or Canadian medical school. Foreign degrees must be certified by ECFMG or equivalent.
  • Graduate Training: At least 1 year of supervised clinical experience post-degree, such as an internship or first year of residency in an accredited program.
  • Licensure/Certification: Full, unrestricted medical license in the U.S., D.C., Puerto Rico, or U.S. territories.

Experience for GP-14:

At least 4 years of residency training or equivalent experience in Family Practice, including skills in comprehensive patient care for all ages, diagnosis, treatment, and post-discharge management. Volunteer experience counts toward this requirement.
