Overview

Join our Wake Forest Health Network Family Medicine - West Wilkes team in Ferguson, North Carolina as a Family Medicine Physician in a thriving outpatient clinic environment where you’ll make a meaningful impact on patients across all age groups. Our clinic is dedicated to preventative care, chronic condition management, and improving the health and wellness of our community.

The Wake Forest Health Network is a physician-led, non-faculty multispecialty group practice affiliated with Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist.

Position Highlights:

  • Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, with no inpatient responsibilities and limited shared on-call coverage.
  • Patient Population: Diverse range of patients, from pediatric to geriatric, in a supportive outpatient setting.
  • Team Support: Collaborative work environment with an experienced team of healthcare professionals, including nurses, medical assistants, and administrative staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide comprehensive primary care and preventative health services to patients of all ages.
  • Diagnose, treat, and manage acute and chronic illnesses.
  • Develop personalized care plans, promoting health maintenance and disease prevention.
  • Conduct minor office-based procedures as necessary.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure continuity and quality of care.

Physician Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school as an M.D./D.O.
  • Successful completion of residency at an accredited healthcare institution.
  • Current North Carolina Medical Board Medical License as a current M.D./D.O.
  • Board Certification or Board Eligibility in primary care or related field from said residency.
  • Current American Heart Association or Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) and Department of Public Safety (DPS) registration for prescription writing required.

What You’ll Do:

Physicians work to care for patients in a variety of ways, from treating chronic illnesses to advising about preventative healthcare. While physician specialties might vary, the commonality across specialties is that physicians primarily work to diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses. They often do this by performing physical exams, taking medical histories, performing and interpreting diagnostic tests, and recommending a plan of treatment.
