Summary

This position is located at one of the various Indian Health Service Hospitals or Clinics under the Navajo Area Office. The primary purpose of this position is to serve as a technical expert within the specialty area of Family Practice, providing diagnosis, care, and treatment of patients of all ages.

Note: This is an Open Continuous announcement; applicants will be referred when vacancies occur.

Duties
  • Responsible for the practice of medicine or direct services to patients involving diagnostic, preventative, or therapeutic services in hospitals and clinics.
  • Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination, and other specialized medical care to treat and prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • Order, perform, interpret tests, and analyze records, reports, and examination information to diagnose patients' conditions.
  • Monitor patients' progress and re-evaluate treatment as necessary. Explain procedures and discuss test results or treatments with patients.
  • Coordinate work with Nurses, Pharmacists, Social Workers, and other health professionals in providing health services.

Requirements
Conditions of Employment
  • Probationary period may be required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Position involves contact with Indian children; background checks are required.
  • Financial Disclosure Form required.
  • Immunizations as per IHS policy or exemption request.
  • On-call hours or standby duty may be required.
  • Must pass E-Verify employment check.
  • Direct deposit setup required.
  • Background investigation and fingerprint check are mandatory.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate experience and/or education to perform the duties of this position. Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer, and part-time work, with duties and hours specified.

Basic requirements include a degree from an accredited medical school, valid medical license, and supervised clinical experience. For GS-13, 3 years of graduate training or equivalent experience in Family Medicine is required.

Selective Factor

Applicants must be Board Certified in the specialty, have completed an accredited residency within the past 3 years, or actively pursuing certification.
