Summary
This position is located at Indian Health Service Hospitals or Clinics under the Navajo Area Office. The primary purpose is to serve as a family practice medical expert providing diagnosis, care, and treatment for patients of all ages.

Note: This is an open continuous announcement; applicants will be referred when vacancies occur.

Duties
  • Practice medicine or provide direct patient services, including diagnostic, preventative, or therapeutic services in hospitals and clinics.
  • Prescribe or administer treatments, therapies, medications, vaccinations, and other medical care to treat and prevent illnesses, diseases, or injuries.
  • Order, perform, interpret tests, and analyze records to diagnose patient conditions.
  • Monitor patient progress, re-evaluate treatments as needed, and communicate procedures and test results to patients.
  • Coordinate with healthcare professionals such as nurses, pharmacists, and social workers to deliver health services.

Requirements
Conditions of Employment
  • Probationary period may be required.
  • U.S. Citizenship is mandatory.
  • Selective Service registration required for males born after 12/31/1959.
  • Must not have committed disqualifying crimes related to contact or control over Indian children.
  • Confidential Financial Disclosure Form required.
  • Immunizations (Measles, Rubella, Seasonal Influenza) compliance or exemption submission required.
  • On-call or standby duties may be necessary.
  • Must pass E-Verify check and set up direct deposit.
  • Background checks and fingerprinting required; continued employment contingent on clearance.
Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate sufficient experience and education for the role. Experience includes paid, unpaid, volunteer, and part-time work, with clear duties and hours specified.

Basic requirements include a degree in Medicine or Osteopathic Medicine from an accredited U.S. or Canadian school, or equivalent foreign degree with proper certification. Applicants must hold a current, unrestricted medical license in the U.S.

Post-degree, at least 1 year of supervised clinical experience (internship, residency, or fellowship) is required. For GS-15, 5 years of graduate training or equivalent experience in Family Medicine is necessary.

Specialized Certification

Applicants must be board certified or actively pursuing certification in Family Medicine. Verification of certification status must be provided.

Education

Transcripts or course lists are encouraged at application. Only accredited schools' degrees are recognized.
