Cherry Health is searching for a Physician - Family Medicine to lead our clinical teams and drive high-quality, patient-centered care for the communities we serve. We know that great leaders often come from great connections—so we’re asking our internal staff for help!

If you are an internal employee and refer a qualified candidate who is hired as a Physician, you’ll receive a referral bonus of $1,500 (subject to taxes) after they successfully complete 6 months in their new role.

Schedule

  • Full time - 40 hours per week (36 hours clinical, 4 hours admin).
  • M - F - office hours 8am - 5pm - one late night per week
  • 20 hours at 550 Cherry St. location - Grand Rapids, MI
  • 20 hours at Montcalm Area Health Center - Greenville, MI

Overview Of Position

Under the direction of the Medical Director, the staff physician is responsible for providing primary care consistent with accepted professional standards. Must adhere to the organizational Policies, Procedures, Code of Ethics, and all licensing and accreditation standards of the position. Must represent the organization’s Mission in all actions and communications.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and/or supervision of prevention services that apply to well-child, well-adult, maternity care/prenatal care on a panel of patients.
  • Provide medical evaluation and treatment of ill patients based on scientific knowledge.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed medical records about each patient.
  • Prescribe medication, therapy, and diagnostic studies when indicated.
  • Recommend lifestyle changes as appropriate to improve the quality of life.
  • Follow up and interpret diagnostic test results and notify the patient of these results and any further steps that may be needed.
  • Collaborate with a team to better serve patients, which may include MA, LPN, RN, RD, Pharmacist, Social Worker, or others.
  • May be asked to cover for provider on leave.
  • Participate in after-hours call.
  • May be asked to supervise Nurse Practitioners or Physician’s Assistants.
  • Participate in the peer review process.
  • Provide direct patient care and treatment.
  • Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of clinic policies, procedures, and protocols, as needed to achieve Cherry Street Services Inc. goals and objectives.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the Quality Assurance program.
  • Assist in the implementation of an ongoing in-service training program.
  • Serve as a liaison with the medical community and establish and maintain linkages with external agencies and organizations.
  • Attend regular internal and external departmental meetings to discuss progress in meeting clinical program and agency goals.
  • Ensure appropriate referrals, which encourage continuity of care.
  • Understand and adhere to CSHS’s compliance standards as they appear in CSHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflict of Interest Policy, including HIPAA.
  • Keep abreast of all pertinent federal, state, and CSHS regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
  • Ensure that the staff is trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

  • Basic Life Support/CPR training according to requirements of license and/or certification.
  • Tact and similar qualities necessary in meeting and dealing effectively with others, in person and on the telephone.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as required.

  • Effectively communicate orally with diverse individuals and groups.

  • Work in a variety of settings such as the traditional office, mobile medical van, nursing home, etc., including other Cherry Health sites as needed.

EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATES

  • Licensed to practice medicine in the State of Michigan.
  • Board certification or eligibility.
  • Insurable for liability coverage as a primary care physician in the State of Michigan required.
  • Remain up to date in medical advances through continuing medical education.

Experience

Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed above.

Physical Requirements

  • Possible exposure to patients/clients with illnesses and/or infections.
  • Frequent telephone and computer use, requiring manual dexterity for writing and computer use.
  • Sitting, standing, or walking for extended periods of time.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job may include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
  • May require bending, squatting, or kneeling and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required.
