Job description

Summary

North Central Family Medical Center is a non‑profit Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing affordable, accessible healthcare and pharmacy services to patients of all ages with locations in Rock Hill and Chester.

Under the direction of the Director of the Medical Director/CMO, the Staff Physician provides quality care to primary care patients with extensive medical knowledge and strong interpersonal skills. Extensive focus will occur on communicating with patients and clinic staff to explain diagnosis and determine the best course of treatment and follow up needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides care following medically acceptable treatment regimens using evidence based medicine
  • Evaluates, examines and treats patients within scope of practice deemed appropriate by the center affiliated professional organizations
  • Obtains a complete medical history from patient, family, primary caregiver(s) and/or previous medical record
  • Performs complete physical examinations on patients with targeted physical exams when appropriate for isolated complaints
  • Orders routine and diagnostic lab and x‑ray studies according to established criteria, when such studies are deemed appropriate for completing diagnosis and monitoring therapy
  • Formulates, initiates and monitors patient management plans for each patient assigned to the patient panel of the provider. This is based on established standards of care.
  • Adjusts medications and other therapeutic regimens based on treatment goals. Will have appropriate discussion of treatment plan with patients, family members and other health center personnel.
  • Consults with physicians and other members of the health care team
  • Obtains appropriate referrals to specialist when appropriate
  • Renders emergency care and treatment including cardiopulmonary resuscitation, and sutures lacerations
  • Participates in the development and implementation of a regularly updated quality assurance program
  • Assists with development of annual health plan and its implementation
  • Provides medical consultation as the need arises
  • Practices appropriate use of EMR including messaging, billing, review of labs/notes and history documentation
  • Enters progress notes in electronic medical record and completes workload documentation in a timely manner
  • Provides emergency call coverage which includes phone calls as required by center
  • Maintains all requirements for hospital affiliative privileges as required by center as required by hospital bylaws
  • During times of staff shortage, must be willing to fill in as needed. This includes travel to other sites.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all client information and complies with all HIPPA guidelines
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Provides supervision of clinical activities provided by nurse practitioners and/or physician assistants, to include monthly chart reviews and act as medical preceptor when necessary
  • Assign specific duties and responsibilities to members of health care staff as appropriate for patient care
