Job summary

SEARHC is seeking a Family Medicine physician to provide comprehensive primary care across all ages in Southeast Alaska. The role includes participation in on-call coverage, accurate documentation, and leadership in clinical care delivery within a collaborative team.

Board eligibility or certification in Family Medicine is required, along with an Alaska medical license and active DEA. Strong communication and teamwork are essential in this community-focused practice with extensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Licensed MD/DO in Alaska; Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine.
  • Maintains active DEA registration and SEARHC medical staff privileges.
  • BLS, CALS required; if CALS not held, requires ACLS, PALS, ATLS, BLSO or ALSO, NRP.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive primary care for a broad patient panel.
  • Participate in shared on-call rotation for urgent/emergent care.
  • Maintain accurate documentation per SEARHC policies.
  • Deliver high-quality patient experiences through strong communication.
  • Engage in quality initiatives, staff meetings, and medical staff functions.
  • Work hours include fixed clinical time plus non-face-to-face duties; may cover outreach settings.

## Physician - FamilyApply: AK - Haines: Part time: Posted Yesterday: JR102835The Rural Family Practice Physician provides comprehensive family medicine services within the scope of training and experience to people of all ages and genders. In addition, depending upon the needs of the community, the Rural Physician participates in shared after- hours emergency call coverage. Medical care provided is consistent with SEARHC policy and procedure, Medical Staff Bylaws, and nationally recognized medical standards of care.SEARHC is a non-profit health consortium which serves the health interests of the residents of Southeast Alaska. We offer generous benefits, including retirement, paid time off, paid parental leave, health insurance, dental, and vision benefits, life insurance and long and short-term disability, and more.**Key Essential Functions and Accountabilities of the Job*** Provides comprehensive primary care including but not limited to diagnosis, treatment, minor procedures, coordination of care, referral, preventative care, and health maintenance to a dedicated panel of patients.* Participates fully in shared local urgent/emergent care on-call rotation.* Maintains accurate and timely documentation of services in accordance with SEARHC policy.* Provides optimal patient experience using strong listening and communication skills that build long term patient care relationships.* Actively participates in SEARHC quality patient care initiatives and quality assurance programs.* Actively participates in provider and clinic meetings, and SEARHC medical staff functions.* Maintains patient-facing clinical hours proportional to assigned FTE, with a minimum requirement of 36 patient-facing hours per week for a 1.0 FTE appointment; remaining work hours may be allocated to administrative duties, meetings, training, and other non-face-to-face patient care activities.* At times the Physician may be directed to provide services outside of the clinic to meet the patient’s needs, e.g., local long-term care center, Pioneer Home, patient’s home, and local schoolsMinimum Qualification Requirements:* State of Alaska Medical License as an MD or DO.* Board Eligible or Board Certified in Family Medicine. If Board Eligible, at the time of hire, must be Board Certified within 3 years of start date.* Maintains active unrestricted DEA registration.* Maintains active SEARHC medical staff privileges.* BLS, CALS required.
